I really like ADR’s for their ‘why not’ characteristic. Showing that other ideas were considered and discarded helps inform the ‘why didn’t they do that?’ 20/20 vision that’s bound to occur in the future. When it comes to changing a decision, any assumptions can be challenged with the insight of actual use, further refining the outcomes.
As far as journaling goes, I keep a typed one (somewhat because, as a contractor, I like to capture what I did of value yesterday). I’m not sure that my handwriting would stand up to the forensic examination by a future me. “I can see that I was thinking about X, but I can’t quite figure out what” :-)
